WhatsApp Web Privacy Blur is designed to work locally in the user's browser. The extension does not collect, sell, rent, share, or transmit personal data.

The extension does not collect WhatsApp messages, contact or group names, profile photos, media files, phone numbers, chat metadata, browsing history, analytics events, or tracking data.

Local Storage Only

The extension uses Chrome storage to save privacy settings such as blur strength and enabled Free blur options. This information stays in the user's browser.

Advanced settings may be added in future versions based on user feedback.

Permissions

The extension requests only the permissions needed to run:

  • storage: saves privacy settings locally in Chrome storage.
  • activeTab: lets the popup apply privacy settings to the currently active WhatsApp Web tab.
  • WhatsApp Web host access: applies blur controls only on WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp Business Web pages.
